How To Make Your Cheap Fake Christmas Tree Look Real – Make a Fake Christmas Tree Look Real

The Holidays are here! If you love Christmas as much as I do, you need to dive into it in every room. Unfortunately, I am still on a budget this holiday season. There are so many pretty new Christmas things each year, I like to spend my money where it counts. We have a fake tree (you shouldn’t judge since you must be a fake tree owner as well…). Luckily, since it’s fake it can last for years and years to come – It’s a great way to save about $100 on Christmas decor this holiday season. I bought mine 2 years ago on Boxing Day for 50% off (extra savings!) for under $50. That being said it is very bald and noticeably fake. I hated that! But, I figured out a way to make a fake Christmas tree look real.

So I bet you’re wondering how can you possibly make your out of a box tree look fresh of the farm?

My Secret?

You have to stuff it. With as much fake branch stuffing as possible.

What you’ll need:
  • Garland (pre-lit is best)
  • Your cheap fake tree

How to Make it:

Method 1:

While assembling your fake tree, wrap the garland around the noticeably empty spots. Closer to the base of the tree you will find blank metal rods and wires. Use the garland to fill all of these large holes.

Method 2:

Assemble the tree and open all of the branches. After you are finished, go in with the garland and fill in the gaps.

I like this way the best because: it’s faster and you use the garland in the places where it matters most.
